Nestled in the heart of Montalcino, the Case Basse estate is a testament to the visionary legacy of Gianfranco Soldera, a renowned winemaker who left an indelible mark on Italian viticulture.

Soldera, an insurance broker from Milan, fell in love with the estate in 1972 and embarked on a journey to create exceptional, age-worthy wines through his "minimalist farming" approach. Today, the estate is carried on by Soldera's family, who continue to uphold his meticulous standards.

During a recent visit, we were welcomed by Monica Soldera and Uri, who provided a glimpse into the estate's rich history and ongoing pursuit of excellence. We descended into the cellar to witness the aging process of the 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 vintages in the giant Garbelloto casks.

Gianfranco Soldera's vision and dedication have left a lasting impact on the Case Basse estate, and his influence continues to shape the future of Italian winemaking. His passion for the land and commitment to quality have secured his place in the pantheon of Italian wine legends.
