The Dynamic Duo of Barolo: Voerzio Martini

When Mirko and Federica Martini were entrusted with the keys to Gianni Voerzio's renowned cantina in La Morra, Barolo, they seized the opportunity to embark on a new chapter, establishing Voerzio Martini in 2018.

Leveraging their family's historic holdings, the Martini siblings have amassed an impressive portfolio of prestigious Barolo MGA sites, including:

  • La Serra from western La Morra
  • Monvigliero, the standout single vineyard from Verduno
  • Cerequio, the iconic site in the Barolo commune

Mirko's extensive viticulture expertise has guided the replanting of these vineyards with the lesser-known Nebbiolo Michet clone, prized for its higher skin-to-pulp ratio. This, combined with the exceptional terroirs, has shaped the Martinis' winemaking approach, leading them to employ a judicious use of barrique, tonneau, and Austrian cask.

The resulting Barolo wines from Voerzio Martini are consistently lauded as some of the most captivating and sophisticated expressions of the region. Alongside their acclaimed Barolo offerings, the Martini siblings also craft what many consider the purest and most restrained Timorasso, a label that has earned them multiple awards.
