Collection: Emidio Pepe, Teramo

The Emidio Pepe winery stands as a testament to the passion and dedication that has defined the Pepe family's relationship with the diverse region of Abruzzo. Founded by Emidio Pepe, the winery was born from his vision to cultivate indigenous grapes with the utmost authenticity, leading to the crafting of an impressive 50-year vintage history. This legacy has been passed down to Emidio's daughters, Sofia and Daniela, as well as his granddaughters, Chiara and Elisa.

At the heart of the Emidio Pepe winemaking philosophy is a commitment to minimal intervention, allowing the unique character of the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Montepulciano varietals to truly shine. The process is resolutely artisanal, with grapes meticulously hand-harvested and fermented in concrete tanks lined with glass.

Emidio Pepe, the patriarch, has instilled a deep reverence for the land and its ancient traditions within his family. The hallmark long bottle aging of the Pepe wines serves as a testament to the family's unwavering trust in their creations, enabling the gradual evolution and full expression of each vintage. This dedicated approach extends to the manual decanting of any bottle with more than 10 years of aging, as well as the topping up and recorking of younger wines.

The winery's latest innovation has been the introduction of single-vineyard additions to its Montepulciano d'Abruzzo line, further showcasing the family's dedication to quality. For years, the Emidio Pepe team has been meticulous in its quality control, releasing only the most premium "Vecchie Vignes" lines for export markets.

In a single phrase, the Pepe family's Abruzzo is a mesmerizing tapestry of breathtaking landscapes, lively people, traditional cuisine, and authentic, soulful wines – a perfect chaos of passion, elegance, and tradition.
