Alberto Burzi is an acclaimed boutique producer in La Morra, guided by siblings Alberto and Caterina Burzi. Reviving their family's historic estate, they champion traditional Nebbiolo viticulture and low-intervention cellar practices that highlight the pristine elegance and aromatic purity of La Morra.

Barolo "Capalot" 2020 originates from the historic Capalot cru, a steep, high-elevation vineyard renowned for producing Barolos of exceptional structure and power. Crafted with extended skin maceration and aged over 30 months in large neutral Slavonian oak casks (botte grande), this vintage balances Capalot's natural muscularity with La Morra's signature finesse.

Tasting Profile: Luminous ruby with orange reflections. Intensely aromatic with layers of dark red cherry, dried rose petals, tar, orange peel, and sweet tobacco. The palate is concentrated and structured, driven by firm, fine-grained tannins, vibrant natural acidity, and a long, mineral-laced finish with notes of licorice and earthy spice.

Decant 1 hour before serving at 16–18°C. Excellent pairing for braised beef short ribs, wild boar ragù, truffle risotto, or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Exceptional cellaring potential of 15–20+ years.

Alberto & Caterina Burzi, La Morra

Alberto Burzi's passion for agriculture was ignited by his grandparents, inspiring him to study oenology and take over the family vineyards in 2011. Today, alongside his sister Caterina, the dynamic duo cultivates several prime Barolo parcels, including the esteemed 90-year-old Capalot, employing meticulous viticultural techniques like 'tressage' and cover cropping to produce small, optimally ripe berries. Each wine is refined in Stockinger casks, specially customized for Alberto using steam instead of toast, resulting in wines that boast compelling concentration and an almost ethereal weightlessness. Their unwavering commitment to quality and tradition continues to elevate the family's legacy in the wine world.
