Cascina Lieto is a tiny, organic micro-estate nestled in Castiglione Tinella, on the border between the Langhe and Asti regions in Piedmont. Founded in 2018 by Japanese winemakers Rie and Hiroto Sasaki, the estate works with minimal intervention, ambient yeast fermentations, and traditional native grape varieties to craft honest, unadulterated wines of remarkable clarity and soul.

Vino Bianco "Lieto" 2022 is the estate's flagship skin-contact white wine made from 100% Moscato Bianco. Spontaneously fermented on skins with zero temperature control and minimal added sulfur, it showcases a dry, gastronomic interpretation of Moscato that eschews simple sweetness for aromatic purity and structural depth.

Tasting Profile: Luminous hazy gold in the glass. Fragrant with white peach, orange blossom, wild jasmine, dried pear, and subtle chamomile notes. Light-to-medium bodied with a supple phenolic texture, lively natural acidity, and a crisp, bone-dry, savory mineral finish.

Serve slightly cool (10–12°C). An excellent companion for dim sum, steamed fish with ginger, aromatic Southeast Asian dishes, roast poultry, or soft artisanal cheeses.

Cascina Lieto, Castiglione Tinella

Founded in 2018 by Japanese couple Rie and Hiroto Sasaki, Cascina Lieto is nestled in Castiglione Tinella, bridging Piedmont’s Langhe and Asti regions. Hiroto, a wine veteran in Italy since 1997, combines his expertise with an old estate featuring 50-year-old Moscato vines, supplemented by rented plots in Madonna di Como for Freisa, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Cortese. From their humble 600-bottle debut in 2018 to today’s 4,000-bottle output, their meticulous, intuitive approach—harvesting at peak “crunchy” seed ripeness, unhurried fermentations, and mandatory two-year bottle aging—yields wines of profound aromatic depth and drinkability. Rooted in nature’s rhythm, they craft singular Piedmontese expressions that defy convention.
