Cascina Lieto Vino Bianco "Lieto" Riserva 2022

Founded in 2018 by Japanese couple Rie and Hiroto Sasaki, Cascina Lieto is nestled in Castiglione Tinella, bridging Piedmont’s Langhe and Asti regions. Hiroto, a wine veteran in Italy since 1997, combines his expertise with an old estate featuring 50-year-old Moscato vines, supplemented by rented plots in Madonna di Como for Freisa, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Cortese. From their humble 600-bottle debut in 2018 to today’s 4,000-bottle output, their meticulous, intuitive approach—harvesting at peak “crunchy” seed ripeness, unhurried fermentations, and mandatory two-year bottle aging—yields wines of profound aromatic depth and drinkability. Rooted in nature’s rhythm, they craft singular Piedmontese expressions that defy convention.
