Lino Maga Barbacarlo 2020 (750ml)

Lino Maga was a legendary winemaker dedicated to protecting the hill of "Barbacarlo" in Oltrepò Pavese. His passing in 2021 marked the end of an era, but his son Giuseppe is committed to preserving Lino's legacy. The family winery, established in 1896, features old vines over eighty years old and spans 4 hectares of rugged tufa soil at 300 meters altitude. The unique soil, extending into Val Trebbia, combined with the microclimate, allows for long and slow fermentation each year, resulting in diverse vintages that tell a story in a bottle. Lino and Giuseppe aimed for Barbacarlo to be recognized as a grand cru site, emphasizing indigenous varieties like Croatina, Uva Rara, and Vespolina. Lino’s wines, crafted through natural fermentation and aged in traditional oak and chestnut vats, are renowned for their longevity and distinctive flavor profiles, making them appealing to wine enthusiasts. His belief that the land is our mother continues to inspire the future of Oltrepò Pavese.
