Marco Tinessa's story breaks the mold of traditional Italian winemaking. With no family vineyards or centuries-old heritage, this Milan-based bank manager turned his obsession with natural wine into O'gnostro in 2007. Driven by passion for the Taurasi district in his native Campania, Tinessa is safeguarding an ecosystem through authentic farming and native clones that have historically thrived in this unique territory.

100% Fiano from 30 to 60-year-old vines across two parcels in Lapio within the Fiano di Avellino appellation. De-stemmed with 1-day maceration in glass-lined vats, fermented with indigenous yeasts in steel, then aged up to 18 months in concrete tanks and ceramic/gres amphora. Unfined, unfiltered, with minimal SO2 added only post-fermentation. As of 2022, designated as Campania Fiano.

Tasting Profile: A textured, authentic expression of Fiano that reflects both terroir and Tinessa's Burgundy-inspired philosophy—pure, mineral-driven, and built for the table.

For natural wine enthusiasts who value ecosystem-driven winemaking and the soul of Campania.

Marco Tinessa, Benevento & Avellino

Marco Tinessa’s journey defies convention: A Milan banker turned winemaker, he launched Ognostro (Ink in Napolitan) in 2007, crafting Aglianico in cellar of Frank Cornelissen, Cascina Fontana, and outskirts Milan before settling in Campania in 2020. His 20-hectare estate now includes 6ha of vineyards (Aglianico, Fiano, Falanghina, latest addition: Greco di Tufo) and 1ha of olive groves, balanced by biodiverse woodlands. Wines ferment in concrete and age in gres (stoneware) amphorae to preserve terroir. Ognostro Red (Taurasi), White (Fiano di Avellino), and Rubice White (Falanghina del Taburno) reflect volcanic and limestone soils, with vintages showcasing yearly nuance.
