Brothers Roberto and Mauro Prandi carry forward their mother Rosanna Sandri's legacy in the heart of Barbaresco, blending generations of vineyard knowledge with formal enological training. Their estate vineyards in Treiso benefit from ideal east-south-east exposure at 450m altitude, where 25-year-old Nebbiolo vines are meticulously thinned twice each season to yield no more than 1kg of fruit per vine—ensuring exceptional concentration and balance.

Winemaking: Hand-harvested fruit is crushed and fermented in large oak tanks, followed by an extended 40-45 day maceration to extract refined tannins and complex aromatics from the sandy, calcareous soils rich in marls and sandstone. The wine then rests 18-24 months in large oak barrels, developing elegance while preserving the purity of fruit. Final pH of 3.6 and acidity of 5.9 ensure structure and aging potential.

Tasting Profile: Classic Barbaresco elegance with layers of red cherry, rose petal, and subtle spice. The sandy terroir of Damasco imparts silky tannins and a lifted, perfumed character that distinguishes this cru. Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish.

For collectors seeking authentic, small-production Barbaresco from a family estate committed to sustainability and low-intervention winemaking. Only 1,000 bottles produced.

Rosanna Sandri, Treiso, Barbaresco

In Piedmont’s understated Treiso hills, the Sandri family has quietly perfected their craft since the 1950s—while neighboring Barolo grapes command €5/kg, Barbaresco remains overlooked at just €3.5. Yet Rosanna, Franco, and sons Mauro and Roberto defy convention.

With devotion to organic farming (no herbicides, wild yeasts, concrete fermentation), they nurture 6 hectares into profound Nebbiolo, vibrant Freisa, and elegant Arneis. “Wine is passion, not product,” they insist—a philosophy that weaves tradition into every bottle.
