Sagona is a small, artisan winery in Tuscany dedicated to reviving ancient Trebbiano vines and traditional winemaking methods. This 2020 vintage draws from two exceptional parcels: the 90-year-old Le Sanzioni vineyard and the 50-year-old La Collina vineyard, planted at elevations ranging from 300 to 500 meters. The dramatic altitude difference creates distinct ripening profiles that add complexity to the final blend.

Each parcel is harvested separately based on optimal ripeness, then fermented in cement tanks with 5-7 days of skin maceration—an extended contact rare for white wines that builds texture and depth. After fermentation, the wines are blended and aged for 18 months on the lees in old barriques, followed by 6 months of bottle aging before release. This patient, hands-off approach allows the wine to develop remarkable character.

Tasting Profile: Expect a rich, textured white with golden hues, layered aromas of orchard fruit, honey, and subtle oxidative notes. The palate is full-bodied with vibrant acidity, mineral tension, and a long, savory finish. This is Trebbiano reimagined—complex, age-worthy, and utterly distinctive.

For collectors and adventurous wine lovers seeking authentic, low-intervention Tuscan whites with soul.

Sagona, Arezzo

Sagona, a remote organic farm in Pratomagno (500m), crafts mountain Tuscan wines from native varieties like Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. Daniele Corrotti tends 4 hectares of small plots amid olive groves and stone walls. Their standout Trebbiano Toscano—racy, reductive—joins mineral Sangiovese, echoing rugged terroir of sand, clay, and rock. A hidden gem where tradition meets wild elegance.
