Trediberri Barolo "Berri" 2019 (750ml)
Low stock: 10 left
The 2019 Barolo Berri is tightly wound and austere in the early going. Crushed red berry fruit, iron, dried herbs and white pepper give the Berri a striking aromatic top register. The tannins are a bit nervy, though, so a few years in bottle are warranted. Frost decimated the crop at Torriglione, which is why this wine (typically the Barolo del Comune di La Morra) is Berri in 2019. To be exact, there is 4% Torriglione, as that was the wine used for topping.

These are the finest wines I have tasted from Nicola and Stefania Oberto. The 2019s are marked by a gorgeous feeling of transparency that has at times been elusive. Gentler winemaking and an increasing reliance on large-format oak are among the choices that inform these Barolos today. With young estates, quality is often driven more by work and progress over time rather than by the conditions of any given vintage. That is very much the case here. Readers will note the straight Barolo is now labeled Berri, the result of the winery losing its lease in Capalot and the devastating frost that wiped out virtually the entire crop at Torriglione.

Trediberri, La Morra
n the overlooked hamlet of Berri, three friends craft Nebbiolo that hums rather than shouts—wines where Rocche dell’Annunziata’s iron grip melts into rose petal delicacy, where Bricco delle Viole’s alpine freshness carries whispers of white pepper. Their secret? Listening to the land: sandstone soils honored with native ferments, aging in neutral casks, interventions lighter than morning fog. These are Barolos for those who seek tension over power—bottles that unfold like a slow conversation, revealing Piedmont’s soul in pauses rather than proclamations.
