Women of Emerging Italy — three bottles from two small Piedmont estates where women call the shots in the vineyard and the cellar. Old-vine Barolo depth alongside fresh, joyful everyday drinking.

  • Alberto Burzi Barolo "Capalot" Vecchie Viti 2019 (La Morra) — from the family's old Capalot vines, the 2019 vintage: dried rose, tar, dark cherry and a deep, classic La Morra spine. Age it or open the night before.
  • Alberto Burzi Barolo 2021 (La Morra) — a bright, young-vintage Barolo from Caterina and Alberto: lifted red fruit, fine tannin, already generous.
  • Marisa Bacher Vino Rosso 2024 (Monforte d'Alba) — 100% Dolcetto, made by Marisa herself: violets, blackberry and a snappy, food-friendly finish.

Two estates, two women — the serious and the joyful of Piedmont in a single line-up.

Alberto & Caterina Burzi, La Morra

Alberto Burzi's passion for agriculture was ignited by his grandparents, inspiring him to study oenology and take over the family vineyards in 2011. Today, alongside his sister Caterina, the dynamic duo cultivates several prime Barolo parcels, including the esteemed 90-year-old Capalot, employing meticulous viticultural techniques like 'tressage' and cover cropping to produce small, optimally ripe berries. Each wine is refined in Stockinger casks, specially customized for Alberto using steam instead of toast, resulting in wines that boast compelling concentration and an almost ethereal weightlessness. Their unwavering commitment to quality and tradition continues to elevate the family's legacy in the wine world.
