The 2017 Toscana Sangiovese is the last wine I tasted with Gianfranco Soldera before he passed away in 2019. ...Today, the 2017 is sensual and racy, showing all the open-knit, seductive character of this dry, warm vintage. Soft contours wrap around a core of red berry fruit, kirsch, rose petals, mint and cinnamon. This will be a gorgeous wine to follow over the next two decades or more, but cellaring is not at all essential.

Today, his family continues to uphold his meticulous standards, with Monica Soldera and Uri welcoming visitors to share the estate's rich history and commitment to excellence. During our recent visit, we explored the cellar, witnessing the aging process of the 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 vintages in giant Garbelloto casks, a testament to Soldera's lasting impact on the future of Italian winemaking.
