I was particularly impressed by the new release from Giuseppe Gorelli: his Rosso di Montalcino 2018. After dedicating a lifetime to enological consulting for his family’s wineries, he launched his own label in 2017 and has wowed us from the very first releases. This wine completes its entire journey in oak, from fermentation to aging, and captivates the nose with hints of balsamic notes, blackberries, and berries. On the palate, it offers a refreshing, rounded experience that is incredibly enjoyable with a remarkable, lingering finish.

Giuseppe Gorelli, Montalcino

Giuseppe Gorelli, a proud Montalcino native, began showcasing his winemaking talents at just 18, impressing the local consortium and learning from the legendary Giulio Gambelli. In 2017, he took a bold step and established his own winery in Northeast Montalcino, where he now tends to 6.3 hectares of vineyards known for their exceptional tannins and ideal growing conditions. His debut vintage in 2018 reflects his passion, with Sangiovese fermented spontaneously in Garbelotto casks, resulting in Rosso di Montalcino aged for nine months and Brunello for four years. Recently, he declared his first "riserva" from the cool 2019 vintage and shared the exciting news of finding a permanent cantina for his Garbelotto bottis also in the Northewestern Montalcino.
